And still, the death counts remain relatively small. There have still been more shooting deaths than deaths by Islamic Terrorism in the past 18 years and 9/11 happened in that year. The GREATEST single act of terrorism that was successful in Europe DID involve guns, it's almost like easy to obtain guns makes killing easier.

He may be using a scare tactic but you're looking at it from a single stance/one-sided argument. Even the founder of the program agrues against it being a long term commitment.

No, you've missed the point of the conclusion and the use of scare quotes around the words "the hungry" . Easily missed.

Nuance and all.

Yes, desperate people become violent; and where there are more desperate people due lack of a social safety net, there is more violence. It's easy to point to places where the social mores of the Western World have broken down and show that without a functional government, these places just cease to function properly. Look at Detroit (hell, look at a Michigan as a whole) it's falling to bits without the tax base that the auto manufacturing industry with it's previously rich union backed pay scales to back it up. Whole communities are falling back into nature.

My thesis is this, simply. Taxes are how those of us who "have" pay for security against those who don't have in collective fashion. Along with services and means of maintaining a functional interconnected society.

If you find taxes and the world they finance so abhorrent, I'm quite certain there are some second and third world nations who would gladly let you live there tax free, as long as you were willing to pay for the security, power, transportation and medical care one would need to live there (and protect oneself from the selfsame "governments" that would surely come to power in such places, you know what I mean, selfish plutocrats or rugged individualists who believe themselves to have risen solely upon their own means, and not the inter-relations that actually got them there) ...

You're kidding right? You're working under the assumption that people would automatically act out in a violent manner? Which okay maybe I can go with, but even if that happens and they attack me, then I have the right to defend myself.
This is besides the fact that you're conveniantly ignored the fact that the taxes to pay for that program is just a government "legal" way of stealing from me.
